Unless you’re building, or considering major renovations, you don’t actually have a choice between rugs and carpet with home accessories and décor. Both remain very popular for a number of reasons, and except for just a few attributes and the mobility of rugs, they add the same benefits to any home. With variety, texture, and insulation, carpets and rugs are crucial elements to include whenever you’re furnishing or decorating your home.
Hardwood floors retain an elegant charm, but they’re loud when walked upon and barren against other furniture in the room. Especially in living and dining room spaces, rugs should be considered essential on hardwood floors. Of all the home accessories and décor you use, rugs, not an interesting screen print, will serve as the focal point when placed in the middle of a seating arrangement. They also infuse a room with vibrancy and life more than even pictures and sculptures can do.
Carpets, though, shouldn’t be discounted among home accessories and décor. Even though they’re fairly permanent, they don’t have to be the dull cream that fills every grandmother’s house. Carpets are now available in endless patterns, colors, and textures, making them as diverse and vibrant as any rug. Rather, too, than just cushion one portion of a floor from noise, they can quiet an entire home. Both pieces can beautify a part of the home that’s often overlooked—the ground. But just because it’s walked upon doesn’t mean the floor shouldn’t receive just as much decorative attention as walls and furnishings.
