Outdoor Entertaining: Spring Garden Party
Posted on April 25th, 2019 by Hannah.
Now that spring is officially here, we can’t think of a better way to celebrate the season than to toast friends, family, and warmer weather with a fun al fresco afternoon. Invite your favorite people over for a picture-perfect garden party, the ideal setting for soaking up the sunshine and unwinding outside. Art director Nicole Steriovski shares: “If you live in a country setting, you might be fortunate enough to have a gorgeous landscaped yard filled with the latest blooms, fresh scents of greenery, and the open airs. City dwellers can turn to community gardens, rooftop decks, terraces, and small patios for garden-party entertaining.”
No matter where you’re hosting your get-together, coax company outdoors with a chic and comfy setup that’s suited for easy conversation. We’ve rounded up some of our most stylish patio furnishings, decorative touches, and lighting elements to help you set the party mood.
Please Be Seated
First things first: Furniture. “Comfortable seating is important for a successful garden party, whether guests are lounging under the sun canopy poolside or under the stars at twilight. When decorating, consider what will withstand the elements — rain or shine,” says Martha Stewart Living Digital Editor Alexandra Churchill.
Known for their luxurious patio pieces, California-based brand Brown Jordan has been in business for over 70 years, and it’s one of our go-tos for furnishing an outdoor space. Their Florentine collection is inspired by the iconic architecture of the Roman Empire, and modernized in lightweight aluminum. Build your dining area with their glass-topped table and slatted armchairs with cushions made from Sunbrella fabric, a performance material that’s UV-, stain-, and fade-resistant. Give your guests even more space to kick back with the plush Southampton patio sofa, which is hand-woven from 100% recyclable Resinweave. Or take a completely different approach and offer up seating that’s fresh and unexpected, like this colorful Fairfield Chair Company floor pillow or this coated ceramic IMAX Corporation garden stool.
