If you want to do some hands-free hosting, stock the bar cart with plenty of ice, ingredients, glasses and a recipe (or two) to make an easy cocktail. Or, find an easy drink recipe like sangria or flavored water that you can make in advance to put in a pitcher before your guests arrive.

Create The Perfect Ambiance

Lighting is one of the keys to setting the perfect atmosphere of your summer evening. Achieve ambient lighting with an array of candles distributed around your entertaining space. If you’re worried about flammability, buy some tea lights that look and have the effect of candles. Music is the second component to creating the perfect ambiance – you can create a playlist that fits your theme, or opt for subtle music that you can hear but doesn’t distract.

Make Sure Your Guests are Comfortable

Whether it’s a casual hang out or more formal dinner al fresco, ask yourself if you have enough seating for your guests. You can set up different seating areas with pillows and poufs, and add throw blankets to create a casual, cozy space. To keep the mosquitoes away, set out bug repellent, light a citronella candle or run a fan.
